June 4 Wed. HERSEY, PA

Today was so fun! Our dear handyman last year, told us to eat at Shady Maple Smorgasbord, East Earl,PA. They are the favorite buffet in the state. Some days are geared for one type of food. WED ITS PRIME RIB. OMG IS THERE BETTER THAN DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! We ordered rare, and it was rare. So good. The place is gigantic! We ate battered fried shrimp, amazing, we added some veggies just to make it look healthy. I tried some other things, stuffed cabbage and meatballs.

Now this is not to mention there are NY Steaks to order, hamburgers, ham, brisket, these were just to order from the grill. Then the side dishes went on and on. It was time for dessert. Crazy the selection of pies, cobblers, creamed puddings, of course shoofly pie. I think I got 3 desserts, including orange vanilla custard. We were so full.

The ride to the restaurant was so very pretty. Fields of farms growing different things. Some farms were huge with their silos, chickens and cattle.

Oh! And I forgot to mention they have an enormous food market below the buffet. So we went there first. There was a regular store area that had the brand name foods. BUT… there were all the Amish food. Now it wasn’t discounted so we are talking pricey. However, leave it to us to find the few things that were reduced. For example we found a huge apple dumpling coated with a topping and Carmel. I Think it was $2.39! We also got a pie and bout the same price. I had to get pretzel rolls. The meats were gorgeous! I would come here for my meats if it was nearby. Thank goodness it is not.

I don’t remember the morning other than thinking where I’m going for the day. Then at night all i can remember is about the time I had eating.
