OCTOBER 15TH
The day before it begins. We had to pack 2 medium suitcases, his and hers. The big one is no longer accepted by airlines and the medium-sized had broken wheels. So we each ended with a medium and carry on. We bought a new middle one.
We go to the desk she asks for the boarding passes. We have 2 plane rides. I can’t find the second pass.. I’m frantic looking everywhere. It turns out the passes were stuck to each other. Can you imagine how embarrassed!
Then we take the second flight with dinner and a TV. I didn’t know how to get the TV to align with my hearing aids. I should have removed them and used the flight hearing ear buds from the plane. So i played kids games and did miserably. Finally, we get to London, huge airport. We walked miles to find the carousel for our luggage. We wait and wait. The man handler for baggage said there is no more. I’m mortified. We don’t have luggage tags. We go to tell the airline our bag is missing. She uses the info we have and said it arrived. Our blue suitcase came with a huge dent. So we wait. Then she and the bagagge man come and have the suitcase. Told us it was right there! Turns out it’s the new one with a red front. But the rest is black and we thought it was all red. So, it was standing next to luggage with it’s front leaning against a black suitcase. So we didn’t see it. I’m so overwhelmed.
We got picked up by a limousine type car. He drove us to the tower Hotel. Funny to see Londoners drive on the left. We saw London sites like Buckingham Palace, the eye, the tower of London. It was a nice drive thru London. We were able to get our room with a nice view. By the time we settled in and got our luggage set up we took a stroll around the huge Hotel. They have 2 restaurants in the hotel. We looked at both and read the menus. We were so tired and ate everything in site from the beginning of the day we decided it would keep until morning. I don’t remember going to sleep. I didn’t sleep much on the plan rides. Neither did El.
We settled down and passed out. A very long and crazy day!
