Wed. Dec 21, day 18 Valparaiso, Chili

We had an interesting day. We had breakfast in the dining room. It was nice I had French toast 1/4 of a thick piece. And kadota figs..love them.

We got ready for our tour to wineries. This place is crazy you literary dock in the middle of containers! Really!  You have to take a bus to another bldg to get into chili and on the bus for the tour.

The town is crowded and made up of 8 valleys. The homes are built up into the hills. Pretty crazy some look like they are going to fall off the cliff. The city has some really old bldgs that have the fancy balconies or windows. Some are colorful, pink or blue in color.

There is a huge street market and veggie market. Think of all the veggie you see from chili well they are huge here and so colorful like imagine really red tomatoes!

We left the cities and the winery vines are so enormous as far as the eye can see.  Some are even planted up the hills.  We stopped at two one was Bill Cole. The setting was so pretty. We have never seen such a huge winery operation.  The holding tanks were huge and too numerous to count.  The bottling operation was processing  2000/hour.  We tasted  a Pinot noir which was outstanding and a savangion blanc which was also very good.

We then went to another El Cudaro. This place have examples of 27 vines of wine, even had 3 I never heard of there. You could see the leaves had different shapes, coloring and the grapes were different too. Very interesting. We had lunch here. They served a red and white, the white was savangion blanc.  The lady next to me asked for Chardonnay..up my alley.  I dumped my white in my husband’s glass. The two of us kept smiling at the waiter and he kept supplying us Chardonnay.  The lunch was potato, turkey chunk, really a big chunk of turkey, and some orange stuff.  But not quite sweet potato?.. maybe sweet potato and squash? Big salad, to pass but the passing plate was so heavy 2 people had to hold it to take some! But it was very fun. The table had nice folks.

We returned to the pier. The tour guide spoke English too well. He grew up in PA. That explains it.

We hung out for a while. The new folks seem to be a younger crowd, maybe late 20s 30s. Not so much oriental and lots of Spanish speaking folks..no surprise.

We went to dinner in the dining room. Anastasia was our waitress, such a nice girl.we totally missed our friends. Hope they got home safely.

We walked around and I entered a contest in Effy and won!  Yippee more jewelry a small pendant and earrings of blue.

Time for sleep we have seen the show tonite and we need to regroup.
