Ho ho merry Christmas dec 25 day 21

This was one of the best days. That’s in spite of the freezing cold weather, 42 degrees with a wind. I am dressed like the pillsbury dough boy!

I am up at 5am, can’t imagine on Christmas morning I am up this early. This is before my kids use to wake me on Chanukah Bush day. They would sneak down and count how many presents were for them…so cute.

We meet our bus 7am(still too early for me) we take a tender, a boat to shore when the ship isn’t docked at the pier but puts down the anchor. Then a bus thru town and on to a car carrier type boat for a 2 hour trip to an island with only a light house. The inhabitants are Magellan penguins, and a population section of segulls.

The Penguins came right up to you. There was a walkway around the island and the Penguins were everywhere thousands.  We saw them slide down little hills, which is halarious, we saw them fight with their beaks, we saw them honk like a DONKEY, we saw them guard their babies in these holes dug All over the island. The babies are grey and later develop their penguin adult cover. If my older son was here he would take one home they are so cute.

My sons would be proud of me walking around this island path. Sometimes it went steep grade up and down and windy and very cold. I’m proud I made it!

When we returned I felt so sick. My throat hurt, I had the chills, headache, pain . Had broth and tea for dinner and went to bed. Bought DayQuil 4 pills for over $4.00 raped again the tiny bottle of cough meds was $25.00. I took one of each med I had to sleep.

Enjoy the pics!

  1. Thank you! Hope you are able to enjoy your trip and your cold will be gone soon. Thanks for sharing your pictures. We are in South Carolina enjoying a different kind of crazy penguin.
