Dec 28 Stanley Island or not

We woke at a captain’s Announcement that we are anchored off shore and require a tender boat to get in.  It woke us up. This was okay it was about 9am and we don’t have a tour.

There is little to see out the balcony. This is an island out our balcony fairly rocky soil. Looking to the right is a town with small colorful homes, red, green, blue in good shape pretty far away.  This is where the tender boats were going to drop passengers. The water looked fairly choppy and it was very windy and cold in the low 50s.

We went to breakfast which was full at the buffet. At 11am the captain announced that 1/3 of the passengers are ashore.  It is taking a long time to get there because of the wind to be patient.

We decided to try and wait and hour the ship leaves here at four. We got our binoculars and saw tour buses up and down the rock hill in front of our room. It must be the battleground. We saw a gun, monument, and a flag.

I decided to lie down. Well I passed out and slept until 3 pm. All are coming back. I wanted to go and at least walk around. Elliot didn’t think with my back a rocky boat ride to and from the ship over 30 mins long was a good idea. He won. Besides he went to check on the tenders and a lady said she was waiting for 2 &1/2 hours! They were giving out tickets and tours get preference!
Things happen for a reason eh?

We decided to get ready for dinner. That fits eat and sleep. So we got ready. I decided Indian food at the buffet is a good idea. We went down and got tea first. We sat with a nice couple from New Zealand. Thought of my dear friends son family who is there. The food was fun reminded me of this place in MD we used to call the family. Italian pizza place who added Indian food. Just as good.

We were invited to an art appreciation party. So we went free champagne, nice group of folks who work the art department, Ty, Ralph, Wendy and Ashley.

We left there and decided to go to the show. A man played the piano and sang jazzy New Orleans songs. It was ok, the band was great. I don’t think even half appreciated what he was playing representing new or.eans really?

My cough is still there. We went to the store and got a 4 oz bottle of robitussin..are you sitting $16.00 awful!

Well I need rest to get rid of this thing. Thanks for hanging in there. You know out of all the cruises I have taken I don’t remember the last time I ever missed a port! Please don’t tell me I am getting old! Really?
