Up at 5:30am which for me is already impossible! We go to breakfast and instead of cutting back, I had one of each Item like it’s my last breakfast ever!
We return to our room and it’s time to get off the ship. 7:30am. We go outside and wait for the bus to the airport. It’s like hurry up and wait! We meet others on the same package. The bus to the airport shows up around 9:00. We go to the bus but have to wait for others who haven’t come out yet! Finally they bring us to the bus, we get front seat! Nice, get to see what we pass to the airport.
The airport is enormous and very modern. We get on line to get our tickets at Iberian airlines. The flight was awful like being stuffed in a tin can. Poor kid next to my husband was so tall he had no place to put his legs. The flight was fast 1.5 hrs. We find our luggage go thru customs with no trouble. We manage to find our travel group and wait for others. We go to bus and again we get the front seat! Crazy! We waited over an hour for 14 people who didn’t show! We figure they stayed in the airport to fly home somehow.
There is a panic among traveling Americans who fear the virus, or ability to fly home, or get food. They even think the USA won’t let us in. It’s pretty scary. My attitude is the same as always, as I taught my kids in situations, take one day at a time. Don’t panic before you have too!
So the bus finally leaves and goes to the hotel. We get to the counter and get our room. It’s so amazingly European. Lights under the glass of a night table. Wooden doors to the refrigerator and safe. The bathroom sink handle is totally on the right side of the sink! Try that! There is also a badet can’t spell it. It a European thing. The hallway is beautiful. The elevator is glass and you walk into yourself! Not pretty!😂
We then saw that most folks went to some grocery because all restaurants are closed. We went and got a bottle of wine and some chocolate/orange cookies yummo!
Then dinner?? Some just drank, others were in panic! It’s weird! We sat at the bar had Guinness beers and I had mussels on rice that looked like sushi, and my husband had a burger of veal, it was so awesome and beyond yummo! We also had green olives that were super with a marinate of olive oil, onion and garlic they were scrumptious!!
We were exhausted so we went back to our room, didn’t even unpack and I passed out! Even before I could write my blog!
