I put the year so I remember. We get up sooo early 5:30Am it’s dark outside, isn’t there a rule don’t get up before the sun rises? My husband is happy always whenever he gets up. I’m not so good before the sun, even later say 8:30am is my normal.
We get everything in order, dress, weigh the big suitcase 48lbs! I’m good. Time for breakfast. Last Spanish hooray! I stuffed my face, the cheeses and hams are amazing! And oh my the pastries!i had one of everything!
Well we collect our stuff and go to the lobby! Relief, the guide comes with bus and guide. There were 10 couples. We started with 22 I think! We get on the bus very little traffic and get to the airport. Weird, it was rather empty! We go to the ticket counter…so far so good. ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE!
We get our ticket put our suitcase on the weight scale. Take 5 steps…..STOP! ECERYONE IS YELLING IN SPANISH! Our guide tells us we need to RETURN THE TICKET!!! CRAP! WEARE TOLD PORTUGAL HAS CLOSED ITS BORDERS TO SPAIN! REALLY???
Luckily the suitcase didn’t get on the conveyer belt!
we are taken by our guide from different ticket lines at least7 times! The guide is conferencing with all sorts of people, we are following her and being told, Spain is calling Portugal really? No one will give us a ticket!
After several hours we decide, after 6 couples split on their own to get back to the states paying enormous fees over $1,000. Each one way!
We are finally done to two couples. We decide let’s eat out of here! Our guide explains to the ticket teller get us to USA. Flight leaves in 2 hours! We both take it. It feels like miles away the train to the terminal. But very nice. In fact on the way to the airport the tunnel system was extravagant going in two directions with splits and different exits. Pretty nice!
Well we get an the plane, seats together. It’s not full by an means. We were in the middle but there was no one next to me. I saw movies downtown abbey(finally), Judy, was really good, and Mr Rogers with Tom Hanks, a tear jerker! I don’t sleep well on planes so exhaust
