May 21 day 3 Gettysburg PA

A very long drive, but in spite of all the rain predictions and storms, thunder, etc we got here safe with no rain at all!  But, it was a long drive.  Probably, around 6 hours.

I read my book and did a sudoku puzzle, read my emails, etc. I am tired of sitting here day after day!

We packed up and hit the road.  The traffic was heavier than we have seen since Indiana.  Virginia is crazy with the crisscross roads and hywys. I probably saw more cars there than an entire year in Palm Coast. It is really easy to get lost and onto the wrong hywy.

I made ham and cheese sandwiches so we ate them while driving. Once we passed into northern MD it became pretty. We saw the Mountains and farms and wineries. It is such a change from Palm Trees.  But, it is still strange seeing shopping malls and outlets with no cars. We saw hotels and restaurants that were closed.

we finally got into Gettysburg campground.  It wasn’t packed as we usually have seen it on this holiday weekend.  But, after driving for 3 days we are beat. Especially El.

i had a gin and tonic just to relax we are here.  Then it is time to make dinner.  I took out red snapper.  But, when I took it out of the wrapper it was one big fish not two fillets.  Oh no, one side had significant bones.  I therefore had to carefully fillet the big bones off the fish.  How?  Very carefully with a sharp knife. Then carefully cut it into 2 pieces.  This was suppose to be easy…..not!   Anyhow, I put chopped onion and red pepper and garlic under the fish. Seasoning and butter on top and bake it.  I made wild rice and broccoli with it.  I topped it with melted Parmesan cheese.  Yummo!

Well we will be here for a couple of weeks. We usually get together with old time friends and family.  We didn’t make specific plans but I hope we manage to see some folks.

I don’t know where the time goes and your tired and it’s dark outside and it’s time to relax and veg at the TV or read.

Thanks for reading the beginning of this summer adventure.

  1. I’m always impressed with your culinary skills. The fish sounded wonderful (good thinj after all that work of deboning).
