We start the day going from Gettysburg to North Carolina. We didn’t make it. The RV started smoking, we pull off the road around 3pm. El is in total panic, bearings came out, something about and axel and tire and smoke.
We call towing service insurance…can’t find anyone who will tow 40ftx13.3”. NO ONE! We call for three hours on the side on 95s. Even the police who stopped by can’t help!
Finally we reach some guy who someone recommended who will come look at it. Around 6:30pm he does something and we literally limp off the 95 exit 64. To his shop. It is now dark and near 8:30pm. We have the cats too! I try looking for hotel with pets. I’m in panic mode.
Finally the guy says just stay here we have a locked gate..oh no deja vu! Didn’t we just do this? I’m too shot to say anything but thanks. BUT, not enough electric to use A/C. We open windows lucky we had a fan. Oh and we have a jug of water, no running water. Am I in hell or what? I must of done something bad in my life to deserve this horror!
I don’t remember going to sleep. I remember getting shoved awake at 7am the guy shows up at work around 8am. Which is around now.
He knows how to fix it theoretically. He has a guy who can weld the axel I don’t even know if what I am saying is even correct because what the hell do I know about this stuff? El is worried he can’t align the axel. Are u kidding me is there some axel alignment specialist? Really? Is this going to be another $10,000.00? El is acting like it. He keeps saying “very expensive”. Maybe the RV is telling us if we don’t go full time it will give us trouble from now on. It is afraid to go to a new storage facility that isn’t even open yet!
So we do have a hotel reserved thru the weekend. Thanks for hanging in there with me. There will be more chapters to this great adventure!
My cats are hanging in there we opened a low to the floor window.
