I haven’t written in my blog awhile. i miss it. It started in Orlando at a hotel overnight. We do this so we don’t miss our flight. Due to traffic. We made it to our first flight to DC. I put on my copper socks up to my knees. We boarded the plane to Rome. Long flight. They keep you busy with snacks, then drinks then what they called supper. I had some Indian meat with rice. It was soso. They give you booze so I had bourbon and diet coke. 2X. I love it with ginger beer. They didn’t have that so I settled for coke 0.
They clean by collecting garbage. They serve drinks again , then pastry like cookies muffin and then breakfast. I did look out the window and I saw the Swiss Alps. Then these clumps of a bunch of homes all together between mountains.
Oh, I forgot when we changed planes in DC we had to take a train and walk to the gate. We walked and walked. And this man in a cart asked if we want a ride. Of course, it turns out the gate was a 2 mile walk!, it is the last gate in the blg.We couldn’t believe the drive. We got something to eat, went to our gate and we got on the plane.. The building is enormous. We got off and walked to find our driver to the hotel.
When we got in we couldnt get a room until 3pm. Its around 10am really. 5 hours?He gave us a map of Rome, its impossible to follow. We step out side a bit cool but ok. We start walking. So, first i notice the stores or shops aren’t bigger than your small bathroom. The stock is packed on top of itself. We came upon a fancy bldg, i don’t recall what it is called. My hip and knee started hurting from the socks we removed before going out. We found a cute little store with tables outside. We ordered cappacino. IT WAS THE BEST WITH FANCY CREAM SCROLL ON TOP! Delicious! We sat and watch folks going and coming. They speak Italian so fast. But it sounds nice.
The drivers here are crazy. They drive as if the got to get there in a hurry. They cut you off. They drive cross from far left to right. Motorcycles just go. I almost got hit by one today. Its crazy to watch but even when we are in cabs..my stomach jumped several times. The streets are so narrow you barely fit. Oh and parking each car no kidding leaves 1/4 inch between cars.
We walked a bit more and turned around. I was in too much pain. We got back by 1:30pm praying they will give us a room and they did!!!! It was nice. Bidet in the bathroom. We took a nap. Woke up feeling better.
Before going back to hotel we decided to check menus of the restaurants. There are tons of restaurants. We looked at at least 12 or more on either side of the street. In fact everywhere we went they had restaurants. They have men outside running after you with menus eat here. So when we were up we decided which one to pick. The food was over the top delicious. We ordered fish topping pizza it was delicious the crust was so good a little thick but not doughy. We ordered a fish salad. It too was delicious. We also shared fried calamari.We shared all. It all was great.The dishes all had a mix of clams, squid, mussels, shrimp, prawns, octopus. Trust me it was all so good Italian food. We came back and passed out.
