Penang, Malaysia June 10 day 40

  • We  took a tour on a trishaw. Basically, it is a seat in front of a bicycle with a man pedaling you around among the traffic. The buses, scooters and other bicycles just go zigzag and they drive on the right! If chaos comes to mind that is correct!
  •
  •   The culture here is separated between Indian (Hindu) Malaysian and Chinese. Additionally, the British were here because they drive on the right and their government buildings are British influence. There are difference places of worship some with inscense burning outside. There is an area called little India.
  • What impressed us the most were these restaurants one after another. The cooking kitchen nearly in the street cooking noodle dishes. The people eat the noodles holding the bowl and slurping the noddles and soup with chop sticks.
  •
  •    We visited three places. One was Kongsi clan compound with an ornate worshipping building with inscense. The buildings appear to be just like you would imagine Chinese architecture to be.
  •
  •
  • The we went to a mansion built by a Chinese man with 8 wives in different countries. This was built for the 7th. So huge so ornate, the carvings, porcalin, are so overdone.
  •
  •  Then we went to another house owned by a wealthy merchant that went into disrepair until it was bought for restoration and is now know as the blue Masson hotel. It was built with such Chinese custom and Fueng saui? Spelling is wrong but if you know what I mean you get it. In fact,  the guide explained there is a spot in the home to achieve “chee” which he gave a description. It was so interesting.

  •  is quite humid here so even though it’s in the 80s Nearly everyone was soaked and hot. I did not buy anything here.   I guess I’m waiting for the rest of Asia yet to come.
  • Well that’s my Malaysia, hope you enjoyed!
