Day 8: Puntarenas, Costa RICO Dec 11, 2016

We got up early and headed for a tour. since yesterday was so long this one was focused on a boat ride and a sanctuary. Coasta Rica from what I saw, had some of the same poor  houses that appeared to be falling down squares of metal as Nicaragua. But, this  place also had a step up.

The houses here while still small, some with the metal roofs, all seem to have metal bars on their doors and windows. All different patterns, nevertheless bars, or barbed wire, or the same stick trees that eventually grow together and are connected by barbed wire.  Other homes had fancy gates with barbed wire. We were told it’s for status, I don’t by it, it’s for protection of property.

First we went for a boat ride. Along the mangrove trees. Their roots grow from the top of the trees down to the water. then they become entwined. some are so thick you can’t possible get thru them.  We saw Florida birds, herons, egrets, sand pipers. We were hoping to see crocodiles but NO luck!

The marina we left from had yachts, so someone one has money! We then drove thru the countryside and saw more of the same. Fields all with barbed wire. Sugar cane, more cows on the land. We then pulled into the sanctuary.  The place was crazy in the amount of birds and monkeys. Tons of Macaows and boy are they beautiful and scream loud. Now think 50 or more screaming. They had different colored ones, green, and red, white cookatoos, parrots.  They nurse what they can, many were pets and they may have outlived the owner.

Monkeys are so cute. Little baby holding on to a females back. Swinging, white little faces.

Then my favorite a jaguar he was gorgeous. He was a young one and they are bringing him up until they can release him to the Wild.

We came back and had lunch. We then chilled took showers and met for dinner. My friend and I decided to go to a musical guessing lyrics game. We joined 2 young ladies. They were so cute and new the newer songs and we knew the older ones. We came in 2nd yeah! It was so fun.

Since it was getting later, we went to see the show. A singer with poor jokes. But he could play a Spanish guitar.

Time for sleep.
