Dec 15, 2016 Callo (Lima) peru

We were up early breakfast I had a muffin and fruit! Our tour left 7:45am. We first went to an archeological museum.  I thought it would be boring, but the stuff was like 2000BC. There were pots, cups, unbelievable tapestries, that were so old! Who knew there were people here back then. I thought they were in Mesopotamia. Imagine people were here! Crazy the way they buried the dead wrapped up with decorations. It was rather interesting.

Then we went to ruins that were uncovered in dirt. Bricks made with packed dirt. They are not even done uncovering this place. They found an entire complex with  waterways.

After that we went to a show with dancing prancing Peruvian horses. How elegant they look dancing. They hold their legs high. This place was enormous. There were little baby horses with their moms. We ate lunch here. Wow, we had risotto, couscous with mushrooms, pasta with green sauce, a corn bread, chicken, beef, refried beans, and dessert was rice pudding and a fried sweet potato donut in honey sauce. A drink of Pisco sour of brandy and other stuff and sweet wine was given during the horse show.

We then returned and the city is clean. Security is very present especially around a bank. There are bars on windows, but homes have a small property in front where they keep their cars behind a metal gate. There are some high rise bldgs which are old but they have windows and are clean.

We came back and looked at some tourist stalls, alpaca and silver jewelry was for sale..imagine I was too tired to bargain. We had some coffee and decided to meet for a quick bite before the show.

The show was amazing. First, think of Spanish dancers stamping their feet and women in long dresses with big ruffles that they can hold and turn with and stamp their feet. That’s what the show was in various vibrant costumes.  However, there was one part where these young men were doing acrobatic moves that were insane, on their heads, outside and inside their foot on their toes flipping this way and that which didn’t make bodily sense the maneuvering crazy fascinating!

Tomorrow still in Callo. Need to rest.  The dock is a huge port of containers and cars and steel, very active, huge machines.
