January 5 Rio/ Madson

We had a private guide whose name is Madson. He was fabulous!
We had breakfast at the Marriott right on the copacabana. It was a Buffet. You could order eggs anyway you want. There was cut up fruit including passion fruit, etc. There were cut up cheeses and meat slices. Europeans always seem to have a plate of cheese and meat for breakfast? I don’t get it.
There was a table of rolls and pastries! Oh my! There must have been a choice of 2 dozen! I ate as many as I could! Yummo!
There were choices of cereal and yogurts who wants that stuff?
Anyhow we met Madson about 1pm. He took us around everywhere. We saw street art that was incredible. We saw winding streets on cobblestones with winding roads and huge homes and castles. We saw renovations of bldgs from the 1800s.
We saw the amazing solaras steps. An artist, who was nuts, and painted himself and a woman pregnant! Ok then. He collected tiles, small and covered a huge stairway with these tiles from all over the world. He lined the stairway with bath tubs and covered them with tiles. The

We had a marvelous lunch at the Columbia restaurant, it is from the 1800s. It was awesome! Pastries on the first floor and brunch on the second.

We saw a church plain on the outside, 400 years old. Inside was awesome. It was entirely carved by hand then covered with gold leaves. I have seen many churches in my travels. This one was jaw dropping beautiful. It cost $3000.00 to get married in this church!

e had a fabulous day. I was exhausted. You have to drive aggressively think NYC, LA, Rome! Great day!

Pics enjoy on top wasn’t easy to add sorry!
