We have never had such a long flight or day. We got to our hotel and got our room and the handle of our suitcase breaks! It has traveled the world so I can’t blame it. We got to the airport in time for the flight. The flight to LA wasn’t so bad. I watched girl on a train and as I watched I recalled the book. The movie follows it fairly well.
Then we got to Lax and had to wait 9 hours to our flight. I have a platinum priority pass and could go into a VIP lounge. However, we walked rounds from one terminal to another terminal passing thru security 3 times. Twice they stopped me to search my jewelry. Imagine! I was upset to see them handling my gems!
However, after exhausted walking in circles we get there and they tell us it’s full we can’t get in check back in a half hour! The frustration was almost explosive. We checked our big suitcases explaining the need to connect to the Sidney flight. We waited and got back in to the lounge. Good thing, because this airport is packed Like NYC. The lounge was quite, nice chairs and tables. Things to put your feet up! They had a bar…free booze, beer and wine! And food salad, fruit, soup.
I read my book ate spoke to other folks waiting for flights. It was rather nice.we then found our gate and flight. Well 9 plus hours on a plane is a long time. You must get up and stretch. They fed you 3 meals at weird hours like at 2 am we had a cheese and ham sandwich? Really? The time difference was crazy to figure out.
The view outside the plane gets Erie over the mountains with snow peaks and homes at the base! Or watching the sun rise which was beautiful. When we were waiting to get on the flight which was delayed my husband started to complain. We started to talk to an Aussie man. He told my husband “it’ll be alright mate”! I loved his accent. He told us to be careful driving outside the city, kangaroos hop across the streets.! Ha
I did not sleep much on the plane. I tried to watch another movie but as I watched them I remembered I had seen them. I read more of my book, Bending towards the sun. I am enjoying it, but I am familiar with a lot of the expressions and have know some mothers who were survivors. But, I wondered if others are having trouble staying with the story. Its similar to Anne Frank a holocoust survivor.
I was glad when we finally landed in Sidney it was March 5th how weird is that loosing a day!
