I have to add dinner from last night! We went to this Italian restaurant Vipiano, located as an attachment to the hotel. We were too tired to explore. But, the concept of dining here was different. They have eliminated the waiter. You get handed a menu. You select your dinner and go to a counter to order. We ordered an antipasto and pizza. They hand you a buzzer to let you know when it’s ready. They give you something that looks like a credit card and you put it on a plate and they charge you onto the card. You go to a bar for drinks. You get your food when it’s ready. Which was very good and extremely expensive a pizza was about $20.00 which in our money would be about $24.00! And it’s very thin crest and medium size. But it was good. I then remember going to the room changing brushing my teeth lying down and gone!
March 6th
Breakfast at the hotel was amazing, beats the ships even. Have I mentioned the amount of oriental folks we have seen in Sydney! More than austrailians. Breakfast while had everything, from pastries, hummus and cheeses, eggs of every kind including to order, fruits, 4 different yogurts, muesli, and all things oriental, samosas delicious, fried rice, congee, miso and other stuff. It was so good oh I forgot smoked salmon my down fall!
We went back to the room and ordered a transformer as this didn’t charge over night. Our room has a doorbell! Oh did I mention the draw pulls are leather? Oh good news we have a room. On the water side which sucks and at the back of the ship. But we will manage I am sure!
Time for our private guide he picked us up from the hotel. He drove us around all the communities in and around Sydney, for 3& 1/2 hrs! Here’s my impression of Sydney. It is very clean no crap in the streets. The government keeps on top of the old bldgs. Most are sandstone. And have been refurbished. There is no graffiti. It is crowded, not quit NYC as there are gaps here and there. They are in a hurry, again not like NYC. I don’t get the fashion forward feeling here. There is plenty of types of architecture. Housing and food are extremely expensive. Our guide was full of history and knew all the important bldgs. But given the time constraints we didn’t go in anything. The city is growing and there are bldg cranes everywhere.
we left him and hung out a little and decided to go to dinner. We checked out a Malaysian place, closed. In fact, as we walked around nearly everything closes at 6pm in downtown. We walked from place to place closed. We finally found a Chinese restaurant open and sat down, Fortune, white table clothes! We ate fried rice and curry noodles, without chilies. It cost $31.80 Aussie dollars! Really! Divide by 1.3 to find the addition for cost in US Dollars. It was very good though.
Well, our friends are in Sydney we can’t wait to see them. Tomorrow the Sun Princess.
I have no pictures of Sydney..my computer is not charging very fast. So I can’t take pictures. It will remedy when we get on board! Also, I still don’t know how to transfer from my camera to the computer duh! Hopefully I will learn on this cruise!
