We woke up and dressed and went to a buffet for breakfast! Most nice European restaurants include a buffet for breakfast. It is totally elaborate! It had various bakery breads, Spanish omelettes, with several vegetables. There is a huge display of exotic meats and hams, oh my the cheeses. You forget what real cheese taste like till you get to Europe. Then juices of all kinds, oh! And don’t forget the pastries, there is something that looked like a chocolate donut, but it had a flakey crust..out of this world good! Then there were fruits cut up of all kinds. Oh boy did we eat enough for a week of breakfasts. Even the coffee machine was excellent!
We went to our room and got a call message from our private tour guide. I thought he was cancelling. However, I called him back and he wanted to make sure I knew that everything was closed, museums and restaurants and that I wanted to continue. I agreed so we meet in the hotel lobby. Pepe is his name.
We walked all over Madrid! 7.5 miles! We saw the outside of everything. It was sad thou. There were few people in a major city. Museums were closed, government bldgs, restaurants all closed. It is Saturday. I compared it to NYC with few people very sad. Even parks with kids playgrounds all amusement rides roped off.
He was amazing to walk us everywhere in a hilly city, where I thought I wouldn’t make it, but I did. The most I’ve walked since surgery. We passed one batheroom opened in a Park!
The city is so beautiful the bldgs are wash and restored every 100 years. Additionally, so many had beautiful scroll work, or tiles, or statutes. Additionally, while the bldgs were together I don’t recall any the same. Even the colors were different. Even the streets were wide and most side walks were wide. I so wanted to try tapas. Maybe I will be back. I missed the Prada museum and the royal place. But, who knows maybe someday I will be back. I can’t even buy a souvenir!
We meet some couples who stayed in and got flights home tomorrow. I looked it costs $1923, to Miami. So be it. We went to our room. Decided to have some wine and snacks and see if we can make it to dinner at 8pm. Sort of late to eat!
We woke up and decided to shower. It has two different heads one is a huge rain head, the other a a hand held thing. It was nice. The lotion smells nice.
We go up to dinner buffet. It costs 25euros! Wow the display! First item calamari! My favorite! In the plate! Potatoes, Mixed veggies, and rolled meat.
Then they had salad stuff, but gorgeous tomatoes, olives, cheeses, onion, lettuce. They has sliced tomato, mozzarella and basil oil. Sooo good! Then dessert, ready yummo tiramisu, and this chocolate pastry to die for yummo!
After stuffing myself once again, we went to our room watched what we could on tv and went to sleep.
