12/12/21 aboard the Harmony of the seas

What a crazy long day! Let me begin by saying nothing was easy. Also, I really did try to reserve stuff before getting on to no avail! Such was the start of the day.

We went down to breakfast and COVID has made it so annoying. You have to put on plastic gloves. But anything you could touch before you can’t now. For example, juice was a machine you put your glass up to and it came out. Now it’s bottled orange or apple. There use to be raisins, nuts to add to cereal, gone. There are no shakers for salt or pepper just these little paper squares. You get the idea.

We packed up to meet our ride. You can see the ship from the hotel. The new policy is a reserved time of arrival at the port. Ours was 1-1:30pm. You stand in line until you finally get to an officer who examines your COVID tests. Yup check two shots, oh no our COVID was 3 not 2 days before boarding we can’t get on. WHAT??? We have get another test! I feel panic riding up in my body. Where do we go? Across to the other side of the parking lot at a truck testing COVID. We go and get the test I’m shaking I’m over stressed! $200.00 later we get negative papers. Go back across the lot and get in line in the front. Wait again until you clear the health test and show your records.

It’s not over! You still have to have your carry on checked. They were seriously checking everything. I brought some water and they checked each was not opened! Thru out the water in my thermos!

Finally get to the room keys are in the door. The room has lots of drawers. We drop our carry on and go out to see the ship. Our big suitcase shows up. Right place at the right time. Get it and put in the room.

Now we find you must check in at some station that you read all the safety stuff. We finally find that after walking back and forth and they check us out.

Ah! But we are not done! We must have reservations for the entertainment! This is too difficult! We stand in line and finally ask this staffer to help us. Thank goodness she had the patience of a saint. We are so not techy. She helped us reserve every night of entertainment. Are we done yet?

We go for a food break. We go to the 16th floor the buffet. Everything has to be served. You can’t take anything. He had soup and shrimp. I had shrimp, cheese, small tomato salad, no lettuce.

Well now we find out we have to reserve dinner time, even though we signed up for anytime dining. Someone helps us for tonite. We could find no one to help with the rest. Help.

We go back to our room. I unpack everything. First time we have enough hangers! So it’s already getting late. We go to a bar and have margaritas! We saw the guys exercising and diving by the show pool. They are built with muscles. a girl was stretching and picked her leg up straight to her ear! Ow!

We went to wait on the dinner line. We ask the man in charge at the head if he could help us reserve dinners. He said come back after dinner. We both ordered beef. Mine was rare and half the size of the plate! Crazy. I ate till I almost bust open. We had wine. We told our waiter of our problem getting reservations. Some man came by and helped us. Yippee finally.

We stopped at a bar and I had a gin and tonic he got jack daniels. We strolled thru Central Park until we hit another line for the show Grease. They finally got us seats we ordered another drink. Hey, we get 4 free drinks a day! I’m not giving up one!😁 The show was good I recalled a number of the songs. Would have liked to see a newer one.

Well that was a tuff day. Lines and reservations and a COVID test. What a way to start a cruise! But there is always tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by and reading about my stressful day. Hope yours went well! There’s always tomorrow!
