APRIL 1,2026 THURSDAY Costa Maya, Mexico

We go and find our location for our tour. It was a long walk to the main street. You can see the leaf roofs.  We get in our bus and see buildings painted in typical Mayan art. We see a huge tower of rocks. The Myan temple.  As we drive, the place is so filthy and run down. The poverty is outstanding.  our money is worth 2X theirs, $1.00 is .50 here. They live in these squares of concrete if yout lucky.  They get hurricanes.

When drove some more and stopped at Hacienda Tequila. This place has  large agave plants. They make tequila with it. We then drove to a small store where there were various souvenirs. They had this strawberry  wine that was delicious, so we got some.

We continued on to another tequila place. But it was a large circle. Seats were cut tree stumps. There was a huge hole in the ground where they cooked.  We were given 2 tortillas with shredded chicken with a tomato mix and avocado sauce.   We were given tequila. Margaritas for a drink.  The place was big. They had roosters, chickens, and turkeys.  They were clucking away. What a racket,  the sound they make.  There was even a peacock with his tail wide open.

We then stopped at a monument of stone steps going up to the sky, maybe 100 big steps. It is the Mayan temple.  We were given a lecture on time and how the Mayan people see time days and months differently.

After all the driving and returning to the ship, I thought this had to be one of the most poverty-stricken countries.  We came back to our room and rested a bit.  It is passover time, and tonight, they had planned a sedar. They even brought in a rabbi to lead. Aside from the Matzoh Ball soup, which was horrible.  The steak slices were good and a plate of smoked salmon. It was nice.

Thanks for taking the time to stop to read my blog. It fills my heart.
