We have been here many times. On the way up and back. Well, putting the truck and Tux together was horrendous! All of a sudden a torrential thunder storm! I’ve never felt so soaked in my life. But, last year or before I ordered a raincoat from where my son works at REI. I have to say while soaked my body stayed dry! Amazing! It was raining and thunder and pouring we got in the truck to wait it out! Then we finally, went out to finish what we started. We wanted to leave by 10 am and we even dumped at the facility and were out by 10am.
We made it thru MD. So much reminiscing over each bldg or exit. Into VA. Oh but the roads and traffic. I’m not sure which is worse. The stop and go traffic. Oh boy, do we remember. Especially working in NY. The huge trucks are scarey they take so much room. I’m not saying we don’t with Tux behind us. BUT, THE TOLL ROADS, ACCIDENTS, TRUCKS, CONSTRUCTION, HELP!!!!!!
Eventually, we did make it around Richmond the beltway around. He was worried about more storms.
There was an issue getting diesel. The tank was set a certain way. We pay ahead but we had to turn around to get the gas. As we are turning around another RV pulled in the space we just paid for! OMG! We just put $100.00 of gas in that tank! and this RV pulls up. Luckily, and we had no clue but he left without diesel? Well we pulled in and got our gas.
We finally got to the campground and it hit me where we were in Northern Virgina. It all came back in my head.Funny how you remember the past sometimes it just smacks ya in the head.
We got ourselves set up in the camp site. It’s after 5pm.about 7 hours. That’s insane. There is no reason we need to do this trip. I am not happy because I have very dear friends I wanted to see in VA.
I took every leftover I could find and heated it up for dinner. It was enough to get us by.
I tried reading my book and finally finished it. I took a peak at messages and emails.
